TeacherActive is proud to be supporting a thriving Primary School in South-West Birmingham, who are seeking a confident, resilient and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
This is a brilliant long-term opportunity for someone who is calm under pressure, assertive when needed, and able to build strong, consistent relationships with pupils who require clear boundaries and stability throughout the school day.
The Role:-
Providing 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH and behavioural needs

Supporting emotional regulation, de-escalation, routines and behaviour plans

Working closely with the SENCO, class teacher and behaviour team

Offering a positive, steady presence and modelling strong behaviour expectations

Supporting learning within the classroom and during movement around school

Using proactive strategies to prevent escalation and encourage engagement
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:-
Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, challenging behaviour or complex SEND

A confident, consistent and patient approach
-
The ability to remain calm, solution-focused and clear in their communication

Strong resilience, awareness of triggers and a firm but supportive style
-
Ideally, experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, or similar

Availability Monday–Friday, 8:15am–3:45pm

A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to complete a new DBS through TeacherActive

Eligibility to work in the UK and the ability to provide two recent references
