Great Western Academy is seeking an Attendance Officer to join our exceptional pastoral team.Part-time (30 hours approx. per week, term-time only)The Academy opened in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in North Swindon in September 2018. The Academy is heavily oversubscribed in years 7 to 11 and has the flourishing 6th form to match.
We are looking for somebody with excellent organisational skills, a resilient, solution-focused attitude, and the commitment and energy to continue our drive for outstanding attendance for all our students. The successful candidate will have a positive and enthusiastic approach to their work, and will be keen to work alongside other colleagues, to build strong relationships with students, parents and carers to establish excellent attendance and punctuality routines. The role involves the daily monitoring and recording of attendance to support those students whose attendance is not yet where it needs to be and make a genuine difference to young people’s lives.
As part of the role, you may be required to conduct home visits to students and their families. A full driving licence and use of a suitable vehicle are therefore essential.
The successful candidate will join an experienced and friendly pastoral team who make an invaluable contribution to the running of the school. We offer extensive training opportunities for our support staff, and as we encourage our team to develop their skills and talents, and play a key role in supporting colleagues, there are opportunities for promotion and career development within the team.
