Summary


BHRUT NHS Trust invites applications for an enthusiasticConsultant Neurologistto join our expanding Regional Neurosciences Centre, serving North East London and Essex.

Our specialist service works closely with the cranial neurosurgical team to provide Deep Brain Stimulation and manages a dedicated Neurology ward. The team includes experienced junior doctors and Clinical Nurse Specialists running nurse-led clinics in Epilepsy, MS, Movement Disorders, Botox, and MND.

We welcome applicants with specialist interests in MS, Epilepsy, or Movement Disorders to complement our dynamic, patient-focused team. Join a friendly, supportive environment committed to excellence in patient care, education, and innovation.

Provide expert care for patients with neurological conditions including stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s, and MS. Perform assessments, interpret investigations, and deliver tailored treatment plans. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and champion patient safety and high-quality care. Stay up to date with advances to drive continuous improvement.

We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 330,000 people visiting them last year. We’re campaigning to secure the £35m we need totransform the A&E at Queen’s and get rid of corridor care.

We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of theNorth East London Cancer Alliance.

We run aWomen’s Health Hub in Ilford; anAgeing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) atBarking Community Hospital and atSt George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The majority of our 8,400 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. The successful applicant would be expected to develop and maintain an interest in research and development, take part in regular clinical governance, and be actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing education.
