We are currently recruiting for a full-time Porter. This hands-on position is responsible for, but not limited to, the setup and pack-down of rooms in coordination with the bookings team, locker management, and escorting contractors and subcontractors around site and cleaning and clearing of external areas.
The role requires a proactive approach to health and safety, including conducting regular site walk rounds to identify and report hazards, building issues, or furniture/fabric concerns to the line manager or help desk. These reports help ensure timely resolution through the appropriate regional supply chain partners.
Collaboration is key, as the porter will work closely with various internal teams and external supply chain partners to maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment. Flexibility is essential, with the ability to respond to ad hoc work orders and shifting priorities throughout the day.
Strong customer service skills are required, both in person and over the phone, with a professional and patient manner. While conflict resolution is not a core responsibility, the ability to remain calm and escalate appropriately is important.
The role will report to the Soft Services Manager and is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied and active workday, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and thrives in a collaborative, service-focused environment.
Main Role
Meeting Rooms & Event Spaces
-Oversee setup and pack-down of meeting rooms and event spaces according to booking schedules.
-Liaise with the room bookings team to ensure timely and accurate arrangements.
-Maintain cleanliness, functionality, and readiness of spaces.
Locker Management
-Handle locker requests for setting and resetting combination locks.
Contractor Escorting & Site Access
-Escort contractors and subcontractors around the site as required.
-Ensure all visitors comply with site safety and security protocols.
Compliance, Safety & Reporting
-Conduct regular on-site walk rounds to identify hazards, challenges, or issues related to the building, furniture, or fabric.
-Report all findings to the line manager and/or helpdesk to ensure appropriate allocation to the correct regional supply chain partner.
-Maintain awareness of health and safety legislation and ensure compliance at all times.
-Escalate any incidents or concerns promptly and accurately.
Collaboration
-Work collaboratively with other regional supply chain partners to support site operations and resolve issues efficiently.
-Communicate effectively to ensure smooth coordination and service delivery.
External Area Cleanliness
-Clean and clear external areas of the building including entrances, pathways, and outdoor communal spaces.
-Ensure these areas are safe, tidy, and presentable at all times.
Ad Hoc Support
-Respond flexibly to daily operational needs and incoming work orders.
-Assist with general porter duties across the site as needed.
Customer Service
-Provide professional, patient, and courteous service both face-to-face and over the phone.
-Handle queries and requests with a helpful and solution-focused approach.
-De-escalate situations calmly; refer conflict management to appropriate personnel.
Personnel SpecificationApplicants will need to be able to demonstrate at least 1 years' experience within in a Cleaning Supervisory and working in external environments in all weathers. A proven track record in a customer experience, multi skilled focused environment. They will be responsible for themselves and others to ensure we maintain a safe and compliant working environment in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and subsequent UK and EU amendments.
Skills & Experience Required
-Previous experience in a facilities, hospitality, or customer service role.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Basic understanding of health and safety and compliance procedures.
-Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks.
-Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
Desirable Attributes
-Experience in event or room setup coordination.
-Familiarity with booking systems or facilities management software.
First Aid or Manual Handling certification (preferred but not essential).
