Store Detective - B&Q Nottingham
Pay: £13.30 per hour
Hours: 50 per week
Shifts: Week 1 (Mon-Fri), Week 2 (Tues-Sat)
Join the Front Line in Retail Security
Are you naturally observant, calm under pressure, and ready to play a vital role in keeping retail spaces safe? We're looking for a Store Detective to work across the B&Q store network in Nottingham, helping to deter theft, support investigations, and create a safer shopping environment for all.
This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing team supporting one of the UK's leading home improvement retailers. You'll work both behind the scenes and on the shop floor, using your instincts and training to prevent loss and identify criminal behaviour before it escalates.
What You'll Be Doing
Actively observe and detect theft or suspicious behaviour, taking appropriate action including apprehension where required.
Build strong working relationships with local police, crime partnerships, and internal teams to stay ahead of crime trends.
Develop local intelligence networks to disrupt organised retail crime.
Maintain accurate and timely incident reports; attend court when required to give evidence.
Support audits and space utilisation projects to improve store efficiency.
Monitor CCTV and electronic tagging systems to enhance store security.
What We're Looking For
A calm, confident communicator who can quickly assess and respond to situations.
Previous customer-facing or security experience—store detective background is a major plus.
Valid SIA licence is essential.
Valid UK driver's licence required for travel between store locations.
Sharp observational skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.
Confident challenging individuals and making swift, informed decisions.
Proactive, motivated attitude—someone who takes pride in preventing crime and protecting others.
Familiarity with modern surveillance systems (CCTV, tagging, etc.) preferred.
Why Join Us?
Be part of a trusted, high-impact team that plays a vital role in store safety and crime prevention.
Enjoy a varied, dynamic role—no two days are the same.
Work with one of the UK's most respected retailers in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
Ready to make a difference? Apply today and help us keep B&Q safe for everyone.
