Position Overview
The Operational Supervisor supports the daily operations and long-term success of Fundamental Movement Academy by ensuring the smooth running of classes, staffing, customer service, and facility standards.
This role combines leadership, organisation, and a hands-on approach to maintain a safe, engaging, and high-quality experience for all members, children, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Service
Provide a warm, professional, and welcoming environment for all members, families, and visitors.
Handle inquiries, feedback, and complaints efficiently and with care.
Support parents and guardians with class information, memberships, and bookings.
Uphold the Academy’s customer service standards and foster a friendly community environment.
Order any required stock/items to ensure the facility can operate.
2. Class Operations & Instruction
Oversee and support the delivery of children’s sessions including:
Pre-School
Gymnastics
Trampolining
Ninjas
Stay & Play
SEN (Special Educational Needs)
Soft Play
Ensure all classes follow approved lesson plans and safety guidelines.
Supervise and mentor coaching staff to deliver engaging and high-quality sessions.
Step in to teach or assist classes during staff absence or busy periods.
Monitor participant progress, class attendance, and coach performance.
3. Staffing & Leadership
Assist in creating and managing staff rotas for all programs and café operations.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing staff training and development.
Provide daily supervision, motivation, and feedback to team members.
Ensure effective communication and teamwork across all departments.
Arrange cover for sickness, holidays, or unexpected absences as needed.
4. Safety & Compliance
Maintain and promote the highest standards of health and safety throughout the facility.
Conduct regular inspections of equipment, mats, trampolines, and play zones.
Ensure all incidents and first aid forms are completed, filed, and recorded accurately.
Report and resolve any hazards, maintenance, or safety concerns promptly.
Ensure compliance with HASSP (Health and Safety Systems and Procedures) and relevant legislation.
Support the implementation and monitoring of safeguarding policies and practices.
5. Facility Cleanliness & Presentation
Oversee the daily cleaning and presentation of the entire facility, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness at all times.
Ensure activity areas, viewing zones, café, soft play areas, toilets, and changing rooms are safe and well maintained.
Monitor and support staff in completing cleaning checklists.
Identify and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
6. Café Operations
Supervise the café team to ensure smooth service and excellent customer experiences.
Support stock control, ordering, and cash handling processes.
Ensure café systems, hygiene standards, and food safety practices meet compliance requirements.
Assist with café duties when required, particularly during busy times or staff absence.
7. Administration & Record Keeping
Maintain accurate records for attendance, safety incidents, and operational data.
Support financial procedures including class payments and petty cash.
Complete and file member first aid and incident forms promptly.
Assist in planning and coordinating Academy events, open days, and special sessions.
