Summary

TeacherActive is currently recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Playworkers to support a variety of settings across Colchester. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about children’s play, development, and creating positive, engaging environments where young people can thrive.

As a Playworker, you will support children in both structured and free-play activities, encouraging creativity, confidence, and social development. You will help to create safe, stimulating indoor and outdoor play spaces, ensuring all children feel included and supported. The role involves supervising play activities, interacting with children to promote learning through play, setting up and packing away equipment, building strong relationships with children and staff, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment at all times. A strong commitment to safeguarding and professionalism is essential.

We are looking for reliable, motivated individuals with experience working with children in schools, after-school clubs, play schemes, nurseries, or similar environments. You should be confident engaging children through play, have strong communication and teamwork skills, and hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service. While Playwork or Childcare qualifications are desirable, they are not essential for the right candidate with practical experience.

When you join TeacherActive, you will receive a dedicated team of consultants available 24/7 to guide you through the onboarding process, access to our Guaranteed Payment Scheme (T&Cs apply), CPD training and certification through our My-Progression channel, market-leading rates of pay, and the opportunity to earn up to £100 through our Referral Scheme (T&Cs apply). All roles are paid through our PAYE structure, ensuring correct Tax and National Insurance contributions with no hidden fees.

If you are passionate about supporting children’s development and are ready to take the next step in your career as a Playworker, we would love to hear from you.

All applicants will be contacted to discuss suitability and then invited to register with TeacherActive.

Registration involves an enhanced DBS check, ID checks and will require you to supply good professional references. We pride ourselves on excellent service. We can provide a wide range of opportunities in schools and other educational institutions, with good rates of pay, at times to suit your needs.

Regular external audits have shown repeatedly that our standards are exceptional. We are passionate about finding the right staff for each environment.
