Summary

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives?

We’re looking for caring, reliable and experienced Support Workers to join our brand-new team at Elizabeth Close in Oldland Common, a bespoke supported living service for adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new flagship service, supporting individuals as they step out of specialist hospitals or secure environments and rebuild their lives safely in the community

About Oldland Common

Oldland Common is a newly built development offering six self-contained homes for adults aged 18 and over. The service is designed for people with high levels of complexity, including behaviours that challenge, communication differences, autism, learning disabilities, mental health needs and, in some cases, forensic histories.

Our aim is to support people to resettle successfully into the community, develop independence, build meaningful routines, and live safe, fulfilling lives. Support is typically delivered on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis, depending on the needs of each individual.

About the role

As a Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in helping each person settle, grow and thrive at their own pace. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing consistent, person-centred support to individuals with complex needs
  • Using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches to promote stability, safety and wellbeing
  • Supporting people to develop independent living skills
  • Encouraging community participation, meaningful activities and social connections
  • Following detailed support plans, risk assessments and communication strategies
  • Supporting with daily living, personal care and accessing healthcare
  • Keeping accurate records and escalating concerns appropriately
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, managers and MDT professionals

We have full-time, part-time and bank opportunities available as we build a strong and flexible team around the needs of the service.

Shifts will include days, evenings, weekends, and nights.

What we’re looking for

To ensure the right support for the people who will be moving into Oldland Common, applicants must have:

  • Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism
  • Experience working with behaviours that challenge or complex risks

We’re also looking for:

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Confidence working in structured, proactive ways
  • Ability to follow PBS strategies and support plans consistently
  • Reliability, compassion, and good communication
  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a strong, supportive team
  • A Full UK Driving Licence (desirable but not essential)

Why join us?

You’ll be joining a values-led organisation at the very start of an exciting new service. At Oldland Common, your work will directly contribute to helping people leave hospital settings and build safer, happier futures. We offer:

  • £29,380 Per Annum
  • Company pension
  • Refer-a-friend bonus (earn up to £1,000)*
  • Full training, including Positive Behaviour Support
  • Opportunities for career progression
  • Blue Light Card (discounts in shops and restaurants)
  • A caring, collaborative culture where every voice matters
  • Job security, flexibility and ongoing support
