Summary

Corporate Services Group / Bioresearch & Veterinary Services (BVS)
Open-Ended (Permanent)
Full Time: 35 Hours Per Week
The Opportunity:
To ensure the day-to-day activities within a BVS animal facility at the University of Edinburgh are completed to the highest standards and assist I maintaining the effective operation of the Facility. To provide training and support to BVS technicians.
Your skills and attributes for success:
Essential
Relevant academic/vocational qualifications at HNC level and significant work experience at a senior grade in an animal facility (Desirable).
Hold a Home Office Personal Licence.
NACWO qualification (Desirable).
Proven ability to supervise and mentor members of staff.
Proven ability to effectively and clearly communicate to a wide variety of staff and researchers at all levels
Demonstrable knowledge of IT systems including Word, Excel and databases.
Ability to provide authoritative technical advice to management and other staff members.
Desirable
Registered Animal Technician (RAnTech) professional status
Experience in the maintenance of complex transgenic breeding programs.
Experience in surgical techniques
Experience specifically with Tick@Lab Facility Management database.
Experience in working with immunocompromised colonies
