Newstaff Employment Services is recruiting a Science Technician to support a busy secondary school science department. This role is ideal for someone organised, practical, and confident working in a lab environment.
Key Responsibilities•
Prepare and set up equipment, materials, and solutions for science lessons and exams
•
Support teachers and students during practicals, following CLEAPSS and school H&S procedures
•
Maintain, repair, and organise apparatus, chemicals, and storage areas
•
Carry out risk assessments, safety checks, and PAT testing
•
Manage stock levels, place orders, check deliveries, and maintain accurate records
•
Assist with general departmental admin and support (e.g., displays, cleaning equipment, scribing for SEND, accompanying trips)
•
Liaise with supply teachers, local schools, and external organisations as needed
Requirements
•
Lab or school science experience preferred
•
Strong awareness of health & safety
•
Good organisation and communication skills
•
Flexible, reliable, and able to work in a busy school environment
Safeguarding
Enhanced DBS required and other safe guarding requirements will be needed.
