TeacherActive is proud to be working in partnership with a warm and supportive Primary SEND school in Lichfield. We are currently recruiting for a Pastoral Support Assistant to join their team and help create a safe, inclusive, and caring environment where pupils can flourish.
The school places a strong emphasis on nurturing the whole child—emotionally, socially, and academically. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and proactive individual to become a valued part of a dedicated pastoral team.
About the Role:This is a short-term position with the potential to become long-term for the right candidate. You will work closely with pupils across all Key Stages, offering pastoral support in a range of areas, including:

Emotional regulation and wellbeing

Social skills and relationship-building

Confidence and communication
-
Behaviour support and de-escalation

Engagement in learning for pupils with a range of needs including:

ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
-
SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties)
-
PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties)
-
SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs)
-
Challenging behaviours
We are looking for someone who is calm, empathetic, and able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may find school life challenging.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:-
Experience working with children with SEND

Knowledge of SEMH needs and experience supporting pupils with emotional or behavioural difficulties

A Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare, education, or a related field (desirable)

Team Teach or MAPA training (desirable, but not essential)

A warm, patient, and resilient approach

A genuine passion for pupil wellbeing and holistic development
