Summary

Senior SEND Adviser

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Newcastle College is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior SEND Adviser to join our Central Support Service team. In this role, you will lead the pastoral support offer for students, ensuring they receive the guidance and resources needed to thrive.

As Senior SEND Adviser, you will manage a team of colleagues, oversee pastoral support provision, and work closely with curriculum teams to ensure individual needs are met. You will also assume Designated Teacher status for care-experienced students, championing their success and supporting effective transition and engagement.

You'll play a key role in developing service processes, delivering training to raise awareness of care experience and inclusive strategies, and working with external partners to create tailored support packages. Your leadership will help shape a culture of inclusion and continuous improvement across the college.

We're looking for someone with:

  • A degree or significant experience in education Level 2 English and Maths
  • Knowledge and experience of the challenges and needs of care-experienced students, and the ability to champion their success
  • Proven experience in leadership and managing change in an education setting
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
