Summary

The Prime Minister’s Office seeks to appoint a Senior Visits Officer to its Events and Visits team. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to deliver high quality events, visits and trips for the Prime Minister.

The postholder will be responsible for the formulation and delivery of domestic and international visits including identifying relevant locations, putting together a visit plan and working collaboratively with colleagues across government to plan events.

The postholder will need to be organised, able to react quickly and calmly under changing circumstances and think creatively to deliver under pressure. They will also need to have the skills and experience to recce and advance PM visits as required, providing logistical and media advice. The postholder will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the wider political context.

The postholder will need to be a team player, with strong interpersonal skills required for liaising with stakeholders and high emotional intelligence. They will need to develop a strong network of key contacts across Whitehall and beyond and draw on that network to secure the necessary advice, buy-in and quick decision making.

Working in the No.10 Events & Visits team is exciting, demanding work which often involves extensive domestic and international travel. The postholder will receive an allowance to recognise the expectations for regularly working above your contracted hours, weekend working and national and international travel requirements.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic self-starter. The job will require the candidate to:

  • Manage the planning and execution of PM domestic and overseas visits and events.
  • Work with other government departments and external organisations to develop creative visit proposals.
  • Work with senior No10 staff to advise on and develop a programme of visits which reflects the Government’s policy priorities.
  • Undertake detailed recceing and logistical planning.
  • Shape PM involvement in UK government hosted summits and major events.
  • Work with Governments worldwide and UK Embassies and Missions to shape PM involvement on overseas trips and summits.
  • Coordinate the input of all relevant stakeholders contributing to the successful delivery of a PM visit
  • Work with press office and media operations teams to understand the media attendance and movements during all PM domestic and foreign visits
  • Support the Head of Team, Deputy Head of Team and Special Advisers as required.
