Summary

About the role

As an Operations Support Partner, you will work across a group of stores to coach teams, driving operational excellence and sustainable results. You’ll spend time in stores where you can make the biggest impact, supporting managers to improve performance and deliver against business priorities. The role is about diagnosing issues, coaching for success, and ensuring accountability stays with store teams while engaging specialist support when needed. You’ll continuously review key performance indicators, identify opportunities and agree local priorities with Area Managers and Store Directors.

You will be responsible for

  • Acting as an expert in store operations, providing targeted coaching and root cause analysis to improve shrink, waste, food surplus, availability, expenses, and cash/bank/lottery processes.
  • Spending time in underperforming stores, coaching at the shelf edge to build capability and deliver measurable improvements.
  • Reviewing audit trends, escalations, and price reporting to drive compliance, including Post Office and Esso in convenience.
  • Share knowledge on stock routines, coaching teams to deliver accurate processes and strong stock control results.
  • Support stores in maintaining accurate space for timely range changes, promotions, and trade-driving activities.
  • Ensure stores have correct licences and licence holders, planning exams as required.
  • Use data to identify trends and root causes, supporting managers to create and own action plans for sustainable improvement.
  • Lead seasonal planning for shrink and security, and collaborate with security teams to minimise risks.
  • Deliver operational training workshops for new and existing leaders, and provide targeted support to managers identified for development.
  • Complete post-implementation reviews for central projects, providing feedback and local action plans where needed.
  • Identify and share operational opportunities with Area Managers, Store Directors, and People Partners to support capability and performance plans.

You will need

  • Strong knowledge of retail operations, compliance, and safe & legal standards.
  • Ability to coach and influence store teams, driving operational excellence and sustainable change.
  • Analytical skills to prioritise, identify root causes, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Expertise in stock control, shrinkage, waste reduction, and risk mitigation.
  • Business and customer awareness, with integrity and responsiveness to deliver results.
