Summary


An opportunity has arisen to lead the TB services at St Georges Hospital, a tertiary TB centre in South- West London. You will work as part of a multi-professional team to ensure that patients with mycobacterial infection receive a high standard of care from initial investigations to treatment completion. The role is integral to the prevention and detection of TB in South-west London, as part of national and global strategies to reduce TB infection

The specialist nursing team consists of specialist nurses, an outreach worker and administrator, delivering several services for TB patients; nurse led clinics for patients receiving treatment for active and latent TB, screening clinics for contacts of TB (adult and paediatric), occupational health contacts, new entrant screening clinics and screening for patients prior to receiving biologic treatments. We have a rapid access clinic for patients with symptoms of active TB who are referred from the community or other tertiary services. We have dedicated clinics for multi-drug-resistant TB and NTM infections. We work with inpatient teams to support the care of inpatients on TB treatment. We are the local TB team for HMP Wandsworth to whom we provide specialist advice.

The main duties of the job are to manage the TB service supporting the TB Clinical Nurse Specialists and Outreach Worker to provide high quality care for patients at all stages of their TB journey, you will identify service development needs, support in education and awareness raising on TB in the trust and in the community and you will contribute to service development through audit and contribute to education and awareness raising activities

The TB service at St Georges Hospital provides specialist inpatient and outpatient services and care for the clinical diagnosis and management of TB patients. We are the tertiary referral centre for multi-drug-resistant TB, co-infection with HIV and Non-tuberculous mycobacterial infection across South- West London.
