Summary
Neway International are seeking a Project Support Officer – Admin & Clerical to join our client based with Wirral MBC.
Location: 2 Alice Square, Birkenhead, Merseyside, CH41 2YA
Hours: 36 per week
Start Date: 05 January 2026
Pay Rates: PAYE £13.05 per hour / Limited/Umbrella £16.64 per hour
About the Client
Wirral Council hosts the Champs Public Health Collaborative, a partnership working across Cheshire and Merseyside to improve and protect the health of 2.5 million residents. The Collaborative tackles long-standing health inequalities through strategic programmes overseen by nine Directors of Public Health and the Director of Population Health for the Integrated Care Board. The Champs support team leads, facilitates, and enables delivery of key programmes across the region.
The Role
This temporary position provides high-quality professional support to the Cheshire and Merseyside All Together Smokefree programme of work, as part of the Champs support team. The role requires excellent organisational abilities, strong interpersonal skills, and the capacity to manage a diverse workload under tight deadlines. The postholder will work both independently and collaboratively, supporting programme delivery across multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive administrative and project support, including typing, drafting responses, preparing reports and presentations.
Arrange and coordinate meetings, ensuring agendas, papers, minutes, and follow-up actions are completed.
Manage diary schedules, travel arrangements, and correspondence.
Maintain effective filing systems and accurate records using Microsoft Office packages.
Support programme leads to ensure delivery within agreed financial and resource constraints.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across Cheshire and Merseyside.
Undertake requisitioner duties using the 1Business procurement process.
Respond professionally to enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent.
GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C or above) or equivalent.
Strong IT skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of working at senior administrative support level.
Ability to work independently, use initiative, and respond positively to changing requirements.
Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements.
Flexibility to travel across Cheshire and Merseyside as required.
