Summary

Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesProfessional Role With the referral team and Responsible Clinician, undertake assessment ofpatients referred for Low Secure Rehabilitation and feedback as required In the absence of the Unit Manager provide out of hours leadership for ProspectPlace. Undertake comprehensive, patient-focused, nursing assessment and co-producecare plans in consultation with the service user and their families and carers Undertake comprehensive risk assessment and formulate risk managementplans with Service Users, their families and Carers, Assist the Unit Manager in developing a service that will ensure that the needs ofpatients are met with regard to their age, spiritual, cultural, ethnic and sexualorientation To assist the Unit Manager with the on-going development of the unit Assist the Unit Manager in developing protocols and procedures that reflect theneeds of patients within the unit In the absence of the manager, undertake responsibility for the day to dayrunning of the unit In consultation with the multi-disciplinary team, ensure high standards ofindividual care for patients and that they are fully consulted and involved in everyaspect of their care To provide management and clinical supervision to members of staff. To conduct annual appraisals/IPDRs for staff members To liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and bothstatutory and non-statutory organisations involved with client care Participate in the monitoring and implementation of the Mental Health Act (1983) To follow the NMCs The Code: Professional Standards of Practice andbehaviour for Nurses and Midwives To be aware of current research in the care of people with severe mental illness. To assist the Unit Manager in ensuring high quality of evidence-based practice iscarried out by all staff within the unit Assist in the maintenance of up to date records for all service users referred tothe Unit To participate in the recruitment process, as required.
