Summary
Neway International are seeking a Referral Officer to join our client based with London Borough of Islington.
Location: 222 Upper Street
Hours: 17.5 per week (Part Time / 0.5 Vacancy, Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:00)
Start Date: 12/01/2026

About the Client

The Children’s Service Contact Team (CSCT) is the single point of contact for new referrals into Children’s Social Care and Targeted Services, working closely with the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) to ensure the right service is provided first time.
The Role
This vacancy cover role sits within the Children & Young People directorate. As a Referral Officer, you will act as the first point of contact for members of the public and professionals, gathering and processing referral information accurately to support timely safeguarding decisions. You will work closely with CSCT Managers, Social Workers, and MASH partners, ensuring children and families receive rapid and appropriate responses.
Key Responsibilities
Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Create, maintain, and improve administrative systems to support service delivery.
Work collaboratively with managers, social workers, and MASH partners to ensure contacts are processed efficiently.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships across Children’s Social Care and other council departments.
Handle enquiries sensitively, logging calls accurately and escalating urgent issues promptly.
Process contact information with accuracy, liaising with staff to ensure records are up-to-date.
Use ICT systems (including Microsoft Office) to produce reports, spreadsheets, and documents.
Draft standard written or electronic responses to enquiries within tight deadlines.
Provide project support and undertake other duties commensurate with the grade.
Candidate Requirements
Experience providing administrative support in a busy environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
Good understanding of children’s services and basic knowledge of responding to child safeguarding concerns.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems.
