The Role
This is a sickness cover position within the Environment & Climate Change directorate. As Receptionist, you will provide a professional reception service for the Registration Service, acting as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, while supporting the Registration Team with a range of administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome and direct visitors to the Register Office and Town Hall.
Maintain accurate logs of customer arrivals and departures using service software.
Handle correspondence, personal callers, and telephone enquiries promptly and courteously.
Record and manage outgoing post in the post database.
Maintain and secure the Registration Reception petty cash float.
Provide clerical assistance to the Team Manager, including searching indexes and preparing certificates of births, deaths, and marriages.
Collect statutory and non-statutory fees, ensuring compliance with financial directives.
Cover duties of Registration Officers when required.
Candidate Requirements
Strong communication skills with the ability to welcome and support visitors confidently.
Experience in administrative or clerical roles, ideally within a public service environment.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
Professional, courteous approach to handling enquiries and directing callers.
