We are looking to recruit a science technician (part time) to join our science department. School has a strong history of high attainment in Science at KS4.
Job description
We are currently looking to appoint a part time science technician to join our science department. The successful candidate will co-ordinate the use of practical resources, materials and facilities for teaching staff and assist students in the use of scientific equipment. You will provide an efficient and effective support service to teachers focused on the practical and technical aspects of the Science Curriculum.
You will have previous laboratory experience and/or a background in science along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. The ability to work to tight deadlines and to communicate successfully with staff and students is essential.
GCSE grade 5 or above in Maths and English is essential.
The successful applicant will have a varied and busy day, working in a school with a strong tradition of academic success and pastoral care. Our pupils are motivated, well-behaved and value their education.
We are an Independent Girls’ Grammar School in Birmingham, who have been rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted in May 2025 and have a track record of high academic achievement. We have a diverse staff of different ages and different backgrounds, and we welcome all applications.
All candidates will be subject to a full DBS check and will be paid according to experience.
We are a small school with 115 students, and have small class sizes of approximately 25. Therefore, we have a very friendly community-like atmosphere with a relaxed and supportive working environment. Discipline is easily managed with good classroom management skills and a firm but fair approach
