Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Runcorn-based two-form entry mainstream primary school that is at the heart of its local community as they require an experienced and reliable teaching assistant to join their team on a long-term temporary basis. This is an extremely supportive and inclusive school that has recently had a KS1 female pupil join the school with ASD and selective mutism. With additional funding now confirmed, the school requires a teaching assistant to support this pupil on a 1:1 basis with a focus on speech and language development on a part-time basis, 5 mornings per week (8:30am-1pm) until the end of the academic year.

Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will play an integral part in the education of a female KS1 pupil that has recently joined the school. You will be this pupil's main point of contact, offering comprehensive 1:1 support in all aspects of their school life. This pupil has a dual diagnosis of ASD and selective mutism. You will lead in their speech and language development by:

  • Using Makaton and PECs
  • Phonics support using RWI
  • Speech and language therapy including ELKLAN


What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, have a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience within the last 2 years, and:

  • Have experience supporting speech and language requirements
  • Experience using Makaton and PECS
  • Having ELKLAN training is highly advantageous
