About the Role

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Familiarity with the UK A-Level examination board specifications.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons across the A-Level Sociology curriculum.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students, providing constructive feedback.
  • Monitor and track the progress of all students, implementing effective intervention strategies where necessary to close attainment gaps.
  • Manage and maintain a positive, orderly, and disciplined learning environment in the classroom.
  • Contribute to the continuous development of the Sociology curriculum and departmental resources.
  • Participate in departmental and whole-school meetings, as well as the school's professional development programme.
  • Undertake pastoral duties as a form tutor, supporting students' academic and personal development.
  • Prepare students effectively for all public examinations, including providing revision sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including attendance and academic performance data.
  • Engage in extra-curricular activities or enrichment programmes that support the sociological interests of students.
