Summary
SERVICE MANAGEMENT Strategy development and business planning for the practice Identifying areas for change, improvement or development Implementing, managing and monitoring changes in services Contract negotiation, monitoring and evaluation FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Implementing, maintaining and monitoring systems to ensure effective management of all aspects of the practices finances income, expenditure, salaries, etc Drawing up proposals for expenditure and case of need Working with outsourced payroll function to ensure correct and timely payments of staff salaries, tax, NI and administration of the NHS Pension Scheme Monitoring activity against contracts/budgets Ensuring systems are in place to enable the practice to maximise its income from claims Ensuring cost control and added value PEOPLE MANAGEMENT Defining personnel and skill mix requirements Ensuring legal and effective recruitment in the selection of personnel Ensuring all employment-related policies are updated, legal and effective Implement, manage and monitor systems for managing staff performance (eg: induction, objective-setting, appraisal, sickness/absence management) Identify and prioritise training needs and ensure these are appropriately met Secure effective working relationships RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Overall responsibility for Health and Safety and Risk assessment in relation to the premises, equipment and working practices, including policy development/updating Ensure maintenance and insurance of premises and equipment Ensure appropriate systems are in place to cover reporting of accidents, damage, breakdown of equipment etc INFORMATION MANAGEMENT Ensure appropriate systems (computerised and manual) are in place so that all necessary data is able to be collected, stored, analysed and extracted in a meaningful form, as required Provide/use information to support decision-making and performance management Ensure the practice complies with legal requirements in relation to the use of IT and data collection To support clinical Caldicott Guardian and act as Information Governance lead COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT Ensure practice is registered correctly with all appropriate authorities Maintain regulatory compliance QUALITY ASSURANCE Ensure appropriate systems are in place to establish patients needs for services Introduce, develop and evaluate quality assurance systems Maintain CQC registration and ensure practice continues to be working at a good or outstanding level Deal effectively with complaints about patients care and practice services Support/facilitate clinical effective and audit initiatives within the practice Ensure the practice and staff represent a professional image COMMUNICATIONS Ensure effective communication systems within the practice Develop and maintain robust communication channels with the primary care team Ensure effective communication and liaison with external stakeholders such as PCN, ICB and other health and social care providers
