Summary
Principal Duties Develop and implement robust pre-assessment risk stratification and process Review and develop pre-operative screening and guidelines reflecting best practice and national policy To work in partnership with nursing and multi-disciplinary colleagues, Consultant users to implementappropriate carefor patients and ensuring all requirements of patient diagnosis, treatment and care are correctly actioned. Toparticipatein the creation and maintenance of a safe environment, in which high quality, effective patient/customer focused services are delivered within agreed standards,timeframesand costs. To deliver andparticipatein service provisionso as toachieve the requirements of the Care Standards Act, the requirements of Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, Care Qualitycommissionandany other good practice and regulatory requirements to which the Hospital may be subjected. To take managerial responsibility of the Pre-Assessment Department in support of the Pre-assessmentTeam Leader/Nurse Lead To take managerial responsibility of the Outpatient Department in conjunction with the Outpatient Administration Manager/Patient Services Manager To provide clinical,professionaland managerial leadership to all staff working within the Pre-AssessmentandOutpatient department. To ensure a high standard of evidence-based care is consistently delivered to all patients attending OPD To ensure that the Pre-assessmentandOutpatients departments are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led To act as a role model and patient advocate, ensuring a positive patient experience for all. Tobe responsible forInformation Governance standards. Clinical To ensure the highest standard of evidence-based care is delivered to all patients and their families. To act as patient advocate, ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality are met To ensure a high standard of infection control and the prevention of all avoidable healthcare associated infections Tomaintainan appropriate standardof confidentiality and robust record keepingin accordance withstatutory requirements. To assess patients, plan and implement examination procedures within specialty. To organise facilities for carrying out routine and specialist investigations. To oversee, plan and implement the departmental Quality Assurance programme to ensure compliance within regulatory standards. To be familiar with, understand and apply the principles of Radiation Safety, both nationally and locally regulated or protocol led, defining and arranging safe systems of work. To undertake local reporting systems for patient and staff safety incidents compliant with legislation forUlyssesreporting, to include accidental/erroneousadministration of contrast media (*and / or exposures compliant with IRMER)as applicable. To investigate the resultant action planning to better manage systems. To undertake localincidentinvestigationswithin modality and complete a full report to regulatory bodies asrequired. To schedule and undertake work assessments asrequiredfor trainee staff and accreditation programme candidates Toassistwith the practical experience of newly inducted staff, educate and promote adherence to HMT Working Policies for all staff groups within the department. To ensure the department leads manage the shift rotas and all other 'Out of Hours' and 'On call' rosters, in line with departmental requirements, negotiatingadditionalcover to meet demands. To deal withday to dayqueries generated by patients and staff. Toassistin the implementation of all manual and electronic information systems ensuring consistentlyaccuratedata collection and recording, in support of standard data collection, performance activity, audit and capacity and demand analysis. The ability to form andmaintainproductive working relationships with all levels of staff andthird partyusers of the Hospital and to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary colleagues to achieveappropriate researchcanteredpatient focused treatment and care. Demonstrative analytical skills, both clinical and non-clinical and a common-sense approach to problem solving. The ability toparticipatein the formulation of departmental clinical/business plans and to achieve financial budgets, to lead and manage within agreed clinical / business targets and to achieve clinical/business and financial outcomes which contribute positively to the achievement of the Hospitals overallobjectivesboth clinical,businessand financial. To act as a positive role model to staff throughout the Hospital andin particular tothe professional nursing and support staff within the Senior Nurse Practitioners own clinical area. The ability to be adaptive,flexibleand responsive to the changing clinical and business needs of the Hospital.
