Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for competent individuals to join the team on the Inpatient Gynaecology Unit at Arrowe Park Hospital. The unit is responsible for the safe admission and assessment of patients, and ensuring excellent care is provided at all times.
It is essential that applicants have NVQ Level 3 in care, or working towards, and show evidence in using extended clinical skills or be working towards extended clinical skills.
The role includes rotation between the 8 bedded inpatient Gynaecology Ward, Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, Gynaecology Assessment Unit and the Gynaecology Daycase Unit.
The shift patterns include rotation between long days and night duties.
The post holder will have excellent communication skills and have an ability to deal with potentially difficult and emotive situations relating to pregnancy loss and oncology in a sensitive manner.
• Assist the registered nurses in the delivery of high quality patient care and the general wellbeing and comfort of patients
• Maintain accurate records of the patient’s care, documenting as appropriate in line with Trust, professional and departmental guidelines
• Observe patients and reports any changes to a registered professional for review
• Undertake a range of delegated clinical duties relevant to the speciality and your current training and competence profile, as outlined in the clinical competency matrix within the attached job description
• To accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the registered professional who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care
• Appropriately support patients with routine personal care needs
• Promote privacy and dignity for all patients
• Act as a chaperone; accompanying patients during sensitive examinations or when requested to provide some support
• Provide increased supervision of patients that may require closer observation in line with Trust policy
