Your Role
You will be one of four Panel chairs, who chairs five panels a month on a rota basis. The rate for this post includes preparation reading for panel, approval of minutes.
You will be responsible for ensuring that Adoption Counts Adoption Panels operate effectively in line with statutory requirements including chairing the Adoption Panel, providing quality assurance of panel documentation and panel members, attending panel Chair business meetings, appraisals, and training events.
About You
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated person around their knowledge of adoption and who is committed to the agencies race and diversity principles which is being embedded into all areas of our practice. You will need to have a good understanding of permanency planning for children and the impact of trauma and loss and the lifelong nature of adoption. You will need to understand the recruitment and assessment of adopters process and the integral part the adoption support plan has at all stages in the adoption journey for the family.
An ability to ensure panels function within a clear anti-discriminatory framework and have an up to date knowledge of the legislative framework for adoption and a comprehensive understanding of the national standards, relevant performance indicators and current good practice initiatives. We are also keen to invite candidates that reflect the families and children being presented to panel and would particularly welcome interest from Global Majority applicants.

Adoption Counts is the Regional Adoption Agency covering the adoption services of five Local Authorities: Cheshire East Council, Manchester City Council, Salford City Council, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and Trafford Council. We came together in July 2017 and we were one of the very first RAAs established in the country
