Summary
Your new company
My client is a multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy, delivering services for private and public sector projects across residential, commercial, industrial, retail, leisure, education, and healthcare: with a focus on land promotion and residential development. Operating nationally from offices across the Midlands and the Southeast.
Your new role
- Undertake hydraulic flood modelling to assess flood risk and inform development proposals.
- Develop and calibrate hydraulic models using software such as HEC-RAS.
- Provide input into the design of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and mitigation measures.
- Analyse rainfall, river flow, and hydrological data to inform project outputs.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, and regulatory bodies (including the Environment Agency).
- Prepare clear, concise technical reports and deliverables.
- Contribute to project proposals and bids as required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree or equivalent in a related discipline.
- Experience in hydraulic modelling (1D/2D) and flood risk management.
- Proficiency with hydraulic modelling software (Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, or similar).
- Knowledge of hydrology methods (FEH, ReFH, WinFAP).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report writing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
Desirable:
- Support the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), Surface Water Management Plans, and Drainage Strategies.
- Progress towards chartership (CEng, IEng, or CIWEM).
- Experience with GIS packages (ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo).
- Knowledge of drainage design software; Causeway Flow.
- Previous consultancy experience in the UK water or infrastructure sector.
