Sneinton St Stephen’s C of E Primary School is seeking to appoint a Care Assistant to provide high-quality 1:1 and small-group support for children with complex additional needs, including support with personal care.
At Sneinton St Stephen’s, our mission, ‘Together We Can Achieve,’ shapes everything we do. Situated in the heart of inner-city Nottingham, we are a welcoming and inclusive school where diversity is celebrated, and every member of our community is valued. Our school is home to children from a wide range of backgrounds and faiths, making it a truly special place to work.
Our ethos, rooted in the values of Love, Joy, Unity, and Hope, underpins our approach to education and care. We warmly welcome applications from people of all faiths and none who are supportive of our Christian ethos and who are committed to fostering a kind, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all our pupils.
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate individual to join our dedicated and highly effective team. This post will provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with a range of additional needs. The successful candidate will have experience of supporting children in the Early Years and/or primary or phase who present with high levels of need, including:
• Communication and interaction needs, such as supporting pre-verbal pupils and those with autism who require structured and sustained communication approaches
• Cognition and learning needs, working closely with staff to scaffold learning and break tasks into manageable steps
• Social, emotional and mental health needs, helping pupils develop emotional regulation strategies and positive relationships
• Sensory and physical needs, ensuring pupils can engage meaningfully and safely with the school environment
This may include supporting children who occasionally experience heightened behaviours linked to dysregulation, using calm, consistent strategies that enable them to return to a settled and ready-to-learn state. Experience of using visual supports, communication aids, or structured routines would be advantageous.
You will:
• Have the patience and resilience to provide 1:1 support to children with complex needs
• Be enthusiastic, energetic, and committed to supporting pupils’ physical, emotional, and social development
• Have high expectations of pupils’ achievements and a commitment to excellent standards
• Work well as part of a team
• Be literate and numerate
• Have excellent communication skills with children and adults
In return we offer:
• A welcoming community and a highly motivated, professional staff team
• Excellent professional development opportunities through Transform Trust networks and initiatives
• Calm and purposeful learning environments
• Friendly, polite, well-behaved children who deserve the very best
• Strong partnerships between pupils, staff, parents, governors and community
• A forward-thinking approach to teaching and learning
• Career opportunities within a thriving Multi-Academy Trust
Visits to our school are recommended and warmly welcomed.
Please contact the school office to arrange an appointment.
