As a Maintenance Electrical Assistant at Sodexo, we’re looking for someone who keeps things running smoothly the one who knows how to solve problems, offers expert advice, and ensures the hospital estate operates at its best. As a Maintenance Electrical Assistant at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Hospital, you'll be the go to expert for technical support and maintenance across equipment, building systems, and utility services.

What You’ll Do:

  • Carry out minor maintenance tasks, including basic plumbing, unblocking drains, and simple electrical work.
  • Perform general building upkeep such as fitting fixtures, basic repairs, painting, and cleaning.
  • Support equipment maintenance by servicing small items and coordinating repairs.
  • Inspect areas, identify faults, and report issues as needed.
  • Share routine information, assist in emergencies, and help train new starters.
  • Organise daily tasks and complete required records.
  • Use and maintain tools safely while following hospital policies.
  • Assist with moving materials, equipment, and general support duties.

What You Bring:

  • Relevant experience or training, including safe use of tools and basic workshop safety.
  • Able to work independently and maintain good standards of productivity.
  • Willing to undertake further training and understand links between maintenance trades.
  • Mechanical aptitude with hand tools; able to carry out basic emergency repairs.
  • Effective communication and teamwork across different trades.
  • Self motivated, professional, and able to interact well with staff and the public.
  • Useful knowledge of other trades, e.g., electrical, plumbing, joinery, maintenance experience preferred.
  • Able to communicate clearly and handle emotionally challenging situations.
