Summary
To obtain venous blood samples from patients aged 11+ in accordance to trust guidelines. To label specimen bottles accurately and place samples in appropriately labelled bottles and packaging for transporting to the relevant laboratory. To conduct all procedures with an awareness of the individual needs and respecting patient confidentiality. To record appropriately in the patients electronic records in accordance to trust policy. To approach the patient with courtesy and give an appropriate explanation of the procedure. Obtain appropriate consent for the procedure being carried out. Recognise and respond appropriately to an emergency situation. Ensuring stock levels are maintained for the phlebotomy team.
