Summary
Do you have a proven track record in managing construction costs and delivering value on complex projects?
Our client is a well-established housebuilder with a reputation for quality and sustainability. They are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team and play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional residential developments.
What you'll do:- Cost Management: Prepare and manage budgets, PFAs, and financial tracking to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Tendering & Procurement: Prepare tender packages, analyse subcontractor quotations, and lead pre-let interviews to secure best value.
- Subcontractor Management: Place and issue orders, oversee valuations, payments, and variations while maintaining robust cost controls.
- Value Engineering: Work with design and construction teams to identify cost-saving solutions without compromising quality.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports on costs, cash flow, and forecasts, identifying potential overruns early.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior team members as the QS function grows.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (RICS accredited) or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience, ideally in residential housing developments
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication, analytical, and IT skills (including advanced Excel)
- Line management experience and ability to lead a team
- Salary up to £60,000
