Summary


We are recruiting Diabetic Eye Screener/graders who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

To work within the Herts and West Essex Diabetic Eye Screening Programme to deliver diabetic eye screening for patients in the Herts and West Essex area to the highest standards of quality and care.

Previous photographic and/or diagnostic imaging experience is desirable.

We will consider applications for a Trainee Diabetic eye screener, where Agenda for Change conditions will apply.

Full in-house training will be provided, and the post holder must undertake to work towards completion of the Health Screener Diploma.

You will be required to work Evening and weekend hours in this role.

In addition, you will receive a High-Cost Area Supplement of 5% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £1,258 and a maximum payment of £2,121 per annum pro rata.

The post holder will carry out accurate visual acuity testing of patients.

Correctly administer anaesthetic and dilation eye drops prior to retinal photography according to departmental protocol

To be aware of the possible undesirable effects of dilating drops, and to provide patient education regarding these.

To take high quality and correctly aligned photographs, guiding eye position using external fixation where possible.

Accurate grading of images according to screening programme requirements sending results to patients and their GPs as directed by the clinical lead.

To deal with patients sympathetically and tactfully whilst maintaining confidentiality.
