Summary
Responsible for Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for a defined clinical caseload appropriate to the service area. Work as a senior occupational therapist, supporting the junior occupational therapists and other members of the MDT. Lead group sessions where appropriate. Able to fulfil physical demands of role, including manual handling applications. Will be required to travel city-wide for client visits, meetings and training. To participate in rehabilitation treatment programmes with the MDT To carry out training of other members of staff. Support senior colleagues with the facilitation of student placements. Key Responsibilities Management To undertake day to day clinical prioritisation and work planning, including the delegation of work to junior members of the team. Leadership To establish positive and mutually supportive relationships with all team members. To promote the roles and skills of OT staff to other professionals. To contribute constructively to uni and multi professional team working. To demonstrate a can do attitude and support others to do the same. To demonstrate an understanding and application of the CityCare values and 6 Cs of compassionate care within daily practice, and support others to do the same. Clinical Skills To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of clients in your care. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the clients under your management, and support other team members to do likewise, implementing appropriate teaching, supervision and delegation skills where appropriate. To assess for, provide, demonstrate and fit adaptive equipment using problem solving, and analytical skills. To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of clients, and to organise this effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time and ability to be flexible and respond at short notice to the needs of the service. To provide highly specialist advice, education and mentorship to the other staff and colleagues within the Reablement team and other multi-professional teams around current best practice and evidence based practice regarding the clinical management of clients. To drive quality, clinical service improvement and clinical excellence. To be responsible for own continuing professional development keeping abreast of new trends and developments. Attend relevant conferences and training courses, supporting junior staff to do the same. Incorporate new developments into clinical practice. Working within a legal framework, gain informed consent to treatment and have the ability to identify through assessment, clients who lack the capacity to consent. To participate in the supervision framework as a supervisee and a supervisor, including the appraisal process. To be able to set own objectives and evaluate own learning and that of more junior staff. To be a clinical educator for undergraduate students on University placements, supervising, educating and measuring their performance against the standards set by the degree level qualification. To demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and apply to a work situation. To conduct and report on clinical risk assessments as and when appropriate. Professional To work to your Code of Professional Conduct. To maintain a high standard of care to clients and carers including accurate and detailed documentation. To advocate on behalf of clients and carers, where appropriate, overcoming barriers to communication such as cultural or language difficulties, physical or mental health difficulties, using skills of empathy to facilitate or empower the client. To be involved in the development of good practice for physiotherapists within Nottingham CityCare Partnership CIC and Social care under the guidance of senior staff. To complete patient/client records in line with organisation, regulatory body and legal requirements. To represent the service externally and actively participate in the services marketing strategy when required, conducting presentations to a wider audience, including voluntary and public sector agencies. To demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based practice and the use of outcome measures and make recommendations for change. To have a good understanding of the research process, and be willing to participate in local research and audit when appropriate. To be responsible for own Continuing Professional Development, keeping abreast of new recommendations, research and developments, incorporating them into your work as necessary. Attend relevant conferences and external training courses. Support more junior staff to do likewise. To maintain a high level of professional standards and work to the Professional Values and Behaviours as set by the OT professional body. Policy To be actively involved in Clinical Governance, implement policies and proposing practice changes. To comply with organisations Lone Working Policy and local team guidelines at all times when working alone. Planning and Organisation To support the Team Manager and clinical lead in implementing and evaluating targets and objectives to assist in the ongoing development of the whole service. To advise the Team Manager and clinical lead in relation to clinical needs of the client group. To be responsible for own time and caseload management. To liaise effectively with other professionals and agencies to enhance rehabilitation within the boundaries of Nottingham CityCare Partnership CIC and Social Care. To use information technology on a daily basis to record information and statistics, to aid communication and produce reports. To ensure the Health and Safety of staff and clients at all times in accordance with Health and Safety legislation, Trust policy and procedures. To undertake any other duties which may be reasonably required. Training To comply with and complete statutory and mandatory training in line with Nottingham CityCare Partnership policy. To attend training events as appropriate to support your continuing professional development. To maintain a continuing professional development portfolio identifying learning objectives. To actively participate in your own supervision, annual performance review and personal development plan.
