Summary
We’re looking for an experienced and confident nurse to play a key role in our private patient pathway. If you have strong pre-operative assessment skills and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care, this could be the perfect next step in your career.
In this role, you’ll take the lead on assessing all patients scheduled for surgery within our service. You’ll work closely with consultants and our wider Parkside teams, ensuring clear, timely communication that keeps every patient’s journey smooth and safe.
You’ll carry out all pre-operative assessments and required tests in line with NICE guidelines and consultant instructions, making sure referrals and follow-ups are completed promptly. Your expertise will help us maintain a seamless pathway and the highest standards of patient experience.
• The Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic provides a pre-operative assessment service for those patients undergoing elective surgical intervention.
• The clinic provides individualised patient focused care through effective co-ordination of the service, efficient assessment, admission and discharge planning, and through nursing, medical and clerical teamwork.
• The post holder will be responsible for the pre-operative assessment of adult elective patients, providing accurate pre-operative, intra-operative and post operative information ensuring they are physically and psychologically prepared for surgery.
• The post holder will work closely with the Practice Development team and Clinical Matron to develop the service and implement changes in practice supporting key staff as required.
• The post holder will ensure clinical nursing skills and knowledge is maintained through discussion with Practice Development Team and Clinical Matron.
• Triaging all private preoperative patients.
• Ensuringthese patients are booked in for appointments in a timely manner ahead of their scheduled procedures.
• Completing through medical assessments and performing tests in line with NICE pre-operative guidelines and consultant directions.
• Reviewing all results and escalating through correct pathways.
