Job Description

Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting for tutors in Manchester! At Prospero, we work closely with local authorities to arrange 1:1 tuition for students accessing alternative provision.

What will you be tutoring? The majority of our tuition referrals are for English and Maths. Many of our students are working below the expected age range, so delivery of learning is typically at KS1 KS3 level.

Heres an example role we currently have available in Manchester:

Location: Manchester, within the students home

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: Ongoing

Hours: 5 hours per week

Pay: £20 - £30 per hour

The Role: English and Maths tuition for a Year 9 student working below ARE. Expected delivery of knowledge: KS2 KS3. The students SEN status is ADHD and ASD, so experience supporting students with similar needs is highly desirable.

When and where will you be tutoring? Our tuition sessions can take place in a variety of settings:

Within schools

In public places

In students homes

At all locations, an appropriate adult (parent, carer, or guardian) will always be present, so youll never be left alone with a student. Sessions are delivered during school hours, 9am and 4pm, with flexible timings agreed between you and the client.

What qualifications do you need? You dont need to be a qualified teacher to apply. We ask that you have some form of higher education and at least 4 months of experience in an educational setting this could be as a teacher, teaching assistant, pastoral worker, or in a support role.

How do I get started? To begin tutoring with Prospero Teaching, youll need to register with us. Our simple registration process includes:

Completing our registration form

A short interview with one of our team members

Working through compliance to ensure all required documents and vetting checks are complete

Starting your first role!

Our registration process follows safer recruitment guidelines to safeguard the students we work with. Minimum requirements include:

Right to Work in the UK (please note we cannot register candidates with Sponsorship Visas)

An Enhanced DBS (preferably registered on the update service, though you can apply through us)

References covering the last two years (24 months) of employment, including any roles involving children or vulnerable adults

If youre interested in tutoring opportunities in Manchester, dont hesitate to apply!
