Stirring up Joy, One Meal at a Time
Ever dreamed of a job where your cooking does more than satisfy hunger - it uplifts spirits, sparks memories, and brings people together? Welcome to life as our Cook.
This isn’t just any kitchen role. You’ll be part chef, part storyteller, part creator of smiles. Some days, you’ll serve up a nostalgic favourite that gets everyone talking. Other days, you’ll invent something new that could become the next crowd-pleaser.
Sure, some days will challenge you with multiple diets, last-minute requests, and a touch of kitchen chaos - but even then, the rewards are undeniable.
Why This Role Is Special (and What You’ll Be Cooking Up Each Day)
Create meaningful moments through food—sparking memories, comfort, and joy with every meal.
Plan and prepare home-style dishes tailored to individual tastes and dietary needs.
Keep the kitchen running smoothly with great timing, presentation, and organisation.
Work closely with care staff to make sure every resident gets what they need (and what they love).
Bring your personality, warmth, and humour into the heart of the home.
Help make mealtimes feel familiar, comforting, and full of connection.
Who You Are
This job isn’t for everyone. But it might be for you if:
You have experience as a Chef or Cook, and love what you do!
You’re calm, organised, and able to keep your cool even when three things are boiling at once.
You’re passionate about cooking for people, not just preparing meals.
You enjoy a good laugh and bring positivity into your kitchen.
You know your way around food safety and dietary needs (e.g. soft diets, diabetic-friendly meals) or you’re keen to learn.
You have your Food Hygiene Certificate, or are willing to obtain it.
Experience matters, but so do heart, pride, and a sense of humour.
We can offer you:
A team that knows the kitchen is the heart of the home - and treats you like its beating pulse.
Induction programme with a dedicated mentor to help you feel supported and comfortable in your new role
Free DBS check and auto-enrolment pension
The use of ‘Flex Earn’ enabling you to access wages earnt in advance of pay day, viewing earnt wages in real time
Blue Light Card eligibility – discounts on retail, eating out, and more!
Free meals provided when working long shifts
Access to Peninsula Care Homes Mental Health First Aider; an external Confidential Care helpline for you and your family members; Peninsula Care Home’s ‘Whycare?’ app and Refer a Friend scheme (earn money for bringing your friends on board!)
The freedom to bring your personality and creativity to every plate you serve.
This isn’t just cooking. This is comfort, connection, and care.
If you believe food is love - served warm, on time, and sometimes with seconds – we’d love to hear from you.
