Summary

Do you want to help shape and deliver collaborative, high-impact communications for Greater Manchester, one of the UK’s most ambitious and dynamic city regions?

We want to deliver a decade of good growth benefiting every part of Greater Manchester, and we have a plan to make it a reality. Great communications are essential to achieving our collective vision for the next decade - a thriving city region where everyone can live a good life.

Our communications team plays a critical role in connecting people, sharing stories, and celebrating our progress as we deliver for our communities.

Your Role

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Communications, you’ll be responsible for joined-up corporate communications for internal and stakeholder audiences.

You’ll build trusted relationships with senior leaders across Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), and Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service (GMFRS) the ‘group’ - planning and delivering impactful, coordinated corporate communications that support the Greater Manchester Strategy.

To do this, you’ll work closely with the Group Chief Executive’s office and other senior leaders to deliver coherent and impactful activity that engages our colleagues and fosters support among our key local, regional and national stakeholders.

For more info see Job Profile below.

Who are we?

You’ll be based in the Communications team at TfGM, the organisation running the Bee Network - the region’s joined-up public transport system.

But you’ll also work closely day-to-day with GMCA and GMFRS, ensuring our communications are reflective of and coordinated across the group and aligned with the Mayor and Group Chief Executive’s activities.

What you’ll bring

What you do and how you do it is important whatever type of role you work in at TfGM and even small behaviours and actions can have a really big impact. At TfGM, our behaviours bring to life our values of Deliver, Care and Adapt.

We’re looking for a positive, conscientious and experienced communicator who can take a strategic view of the organisations’ priorities and then get hands-on to bring them to life.

You’ll have substantial experience developing and delivering campaigns for internal and external audiences and be comfortable working with and providing communications advice to senior leaders.

You’ll bring a sound understanding of the range of different online and offline channels and be as comfortable creating a communications strategy as delivering the tactics within it. Particularly, you will be an excellent writer, with a track record of consistently delivering creatively written materials to high standards.

A key part of the role will be taking a broad view of what is going on across the group and ensuring we’re telling a coherent story. Therefore, you’ll need to be curious about different policy areas and highly collaborative, working with multiple stakeholders to deliver on shared goals.

If you’re ready to help us deliver Greater Manchester’s vision and support the Bee Network’s further development, we’d love to hear from you.

What we can offer you
