Eating Disorder Associate Mental Health Worker- Inpatient & ICT
The post-holder will have a base at Vincent Square Eating Disorders Service main base in central London and will also spend time at the satellite clinic at Harrow on the Hill, when required. This is a split role, working with the Adult Inpatient ward & Intensive Community Treatment (ICT) Team.
The ICT pathway is an 8-week programme that offers additional support to patients receiving outpatient treatment, so that they can safely achieve their treatment goals or avoid admission. Whilst on ICT, the applicant will be responsible for physical health monitoring. Within ICT there are regular reviews, that provide an opportunity for staff and patients to meet and set/review goals for treatment. As part of the role there would be an expectation to complete meal support and behavioural experiments to support patients in working towards their identified goals. Within this role you would be expected to work closely with the MDT and attend a weekly team meeting to review all cases on the programme, to ensure interventions remain relevant throughout treatment.
The post holder will also work as a member of the Vincent Square Eating Disorders Inpatient multidisciplinary team that provides care and treatment to patients who are working on recovery from an eating disorder addressing patients’ physical and mental health needs. Patients engage in a full treatment programme and have supported meals as part of the daily structure.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as a member of the inpatient multidisciplinary team and as a member of the intensive community treatment multidisciplinary team.
The post holder is responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of care/services to patients as part of an eating disorders inpatient team and ICT team, working under the supervision of a registered member of staff.
The post holder will provide supportive care management to a caseload of patients, as delegated by the team manager or registered practitioner. The post holder will be responsible for carrying out practical tasks, including physical monitoring, supported meals and facilitating groups, identified as part of the patient’s care plan both on the Inpatient team and ICT
The post holder will receive clinical supervision as appropriate and partake in reflective practice/training on a regular basis.
The post holder will be expected to work closely with the wider service, including working across the different teams; day programme and outpatients service.
The Post holder will be well supported in their role by a friendly, dynamic MDT as well as receive regular line management and clinical supervision in various forms. Your primary base will be in vibrant South Kensington in Central London and you will also be required to work at the satellite clinic at Harrow on the Hill, when required.

Details Jobs and duties
• Undertake basic physical monitoring e.g., vital signs, blood sugar monitoring and venepuncture for service-users.
• Undertake a range of duties which involve direct patient care, including running of therapeutic groups and offering meal support, with supervision following competency assessment.
• Assist in the coordination of care delivery for a case load of service users, under the supervision of a registered professional, in close collaboration with the Directorate, psychiatric multidisciplinary team, service users and other community agencies.
• Work independently with clients, with regular supervision from qualified staff that supervise the caseload.
• Contribute to the monitoring of the physical environment ensuring that it is safe and conducive to the therapeutic work of the unit/community setting.
• Have informed knowledge and understanding in the psychological, social, physical and spiritual needs of all service users.
• Actively participate in the care and rehabilitation of service users as per the plan of care determined by registered practitioners.
• Maintain clear, timely and comprehensive written clinical records on all patients in accordance with Trust policies.
• Utilising IT skills and knowledge to access and input clinical information and data to the Trust Electronic System and Local Authority IT system.
• Using the Care Programme Approach assess service users’ health and social care needs.
• Contribute towards the delivery of care using the recovery approach to provide therapeutic interventions under supervision by means of assessment and ongoing treatment in various settings. Design care plans in line with risk assessment and psychosocial needs.
• Utilise designated recovery tool with outcomes focusing on collaborative care planning, ensuring personalised goals are identified and clients are assisted in building skills and resources to support them into meaningful and sustainable occupations.
• To be familiar with factors that cause mental illness and preferred treatment methods.
• Support the assessment and management of patient care needs through initial data collection, monitoring of patients progress, feedback, discussion, and reports and in reviews with the clinical team.
• Assist in the physical health care assessment of service users and report any changes in service users physical health to the registered practitioner
• Participate as an active member of the team, accountable for your practice, and work in partnership with other health care professionals, patients and others in the delivery of care.
