The Role:We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Construction Trades Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide technical support for practical classes, assessments, and exams across a range of construction disciplines, ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment for students.Key Responsibilities:Prepare tools, materials, and equipment for practical sessions and assessments.Set up and demonstrate equipment safely, providing clear guidance to students.Maintain and repair tools and equipment, keeping accurate maintenance records.Organise and store resources, including chemicals, in line with College policy.Monitor students during practical work to ensure safe working practices.Order and manage stock levels, recycling materials where possible.Assist teaching staff in delivering courses and support students with technical issues.Who You Are:Relevant qualification in a trade such as carpentry, brickwork, or multi-skills.Broad technical knowledge of construction or mechanical engineering.Competence in disciplines such as plumbing, electrical, brickwork, and wood trades.Strong organisational skills and ability to adapt to changing course requirements.Knowledge of health and safety standards in trade environments.Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.Willingness to work towards an Assessor’s Award.What We Offer:Pension: New City College provides a career average pension scheme for all staff (TPS or LGPS)Accessibility: All college sites are easily accessible for wheelchair users and via public transport (bus, DLR, or tube).On-Site Facilities: Free access to on-site gym facilities at some campuses and on-site cafes serving subsidised food and drinks.Staff Development: Five CPD (Continuing Professional Development) days per year, with access to industry-standard facilities and a collaborative working environment.
