Summary

To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work, including the management of patients in your care. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations considering their functioning in family, educational setting and other environments; using advanced clinical reasoning skills and advanced communication skills. To support parents/carers in developing skills to deliver intervention/therapy programmes and ensure their competence when the child or young person requires support. To work effectively and collaboratively in multi-disciplinary clinics e.g. spasticity management, orthotics, neuro-physical disability, joint neuro-orthopaedics, annual review clinics to support the needs of the child or young person and their families and agree joint goals/plans for intervention. The post holder will be required to use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with service users and their carers. This may include working with children/young people who may have difficulties in understanding and/or communicating. To be familiar and competent in assessing, setting up and monitoring postural care equipment including sleep systems, standing frames and orthotics.
