About EH

EH is a bright, creative young adult who is high-functioning autistic, living with anorexia and anxiety. She enjoys all things crafty (crochet, knitting, jigsaws, Bananagrams), literature, plushies, supported shopping trips, academic learning, and great conversations. Once comfortable, EH has a fantastic sense of humour and enjoys friendly banter.

Job Description

As EH’s Personal Assistant, you will support her in accessing the community, engaging in activities she loves, and developing her independence. This is a person-centred role focused on helping EH grow in confidence within a supportive, structured, safe environment.
Initially, due to her current health needs, the role will primarily be home-based—providing companionship, engaging in creative activities, chatting, reading, and helping her enjoy her interests.

As EH’s health improves, the role will gradually include supported outings such as shopping trips (clothing, hobby and book stores), hobby workshops, clubs, and other activities she may wish to explore.

Provide warm, calm and nurturing support

Communicate clearly, patiently and respectfully

Be mindful of EH’s autistic traits, anxiety, and time-awareness needs

Encourage and support EH to explore new activities at her pace

Create a safe, enjoyable, and confidence-building environment

Support EH with at-home hobbies such as crafts, puzzles, literature and conversation

Accompany her on future community outings as her health improves

Promote independence, self-esteem and positive experiences
