How would you like to get paid for five days, but only work four?

At Outcomes First Group, we believe in better work/life balance — and we’re putting wellbeing first.

That’s why we’re proud to be part of a 4-Day Working Week (4DWW) trial, where you can work one day less each week (or equivalent hours), while still receiving your full-time pay.

Many of our schools have already introduced the 4DWW — and others are preparing to roll it out as soon as they reach full staffing. So, whether it’s already in place or just around the corner, now’s the perfect time to join #teamOFG.

Job Title: SEN Teacher (English Specialism)
Location: Avonside School, Bristol BS4 5PS
Salary: Up to £45,000.00 per annum depending on skills and experience (not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: January 2026
UK applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship.

We are looking for an experienced SEN Teacher to join our brand-new Avonside School, helping us shape its foundations and build a nurturing environment where every young person can thrive.

About the Role

At Avonside School, every young person deserves to feel seen, understood and capable of success. As our SEN Teacher with an English specialism, you’ll become a key part of that journey. Your classroom will be a space where language becomes connection — where storytelling builds confidence, vocabulary fuels communication, and literature opens up new ways of understanding the world.

No two pupils are the same, and that is where your creativity shines. You will design flexible learning experiences rooted in curiosity and practical skill-building, using English as a tool to help pupils express themselves, access learning across the curriculum, and develop essential life skills. Whether you’re working one-to-one or with small groups, you’ll adapt your approach to each learner, nurturing progress at a pace that is meaningful to them.

You’ll also be an integral part of our multi-professional community. Working alongside therapists, LSAs, care staff and other teaching professionals, you will help shape personalised learning pathways and contribute to a supportive culture that values emotional wellbeing just as highly as academic growth. Your impact will be felt beyond the classroom — in the sense of accomplishment pupils carry with them and in the confidence they build day by day.

What You’ll Do

Teach engaging, adaptive English lessons to individuals and small groups, ensuring learning is accessible and meaningful for every pupil.
Track and assess pupil progress to inform planning, celebrate achievements and identify next steps.
Lead on English across key stages, guiding curriculum planning, assessment and development.
Contribute to whole-school improvement, offering ideas and insights aligned to the School Development Plan.
Work collaboratively with the wider team, sharing expertise and helping create consistent approaches across school and home.
Maintain accurate documentation and uphold safeguarding, behavioural and regulatory standards.
Experience / Qualifications Needed

Qualified Teacher Status (UK QTS)
Experience teaching in an educational setting
Experience planning, delivering and adapting lessons for learners with varying or complex needs
