Summary

Educational Psychologist
Soulbury Educational Psychologist main scale A 3-8 including 3 SPAs
At Hull City Council we are committed to our children and young people, and we are passionate about how we deliver services to them. That’s why we are developing and nurturing a culture that puts our children and young people at the heart of everything we do - by empowering our workforce to work together to find solutions, to be open, honest and respectful, to take responsibility and listen and learn from others.
If you value these behaviours too, we’d love to hear from you. Hull is a changing local authority and it’s a fantastic time to join us and be a key player in supporting our journey.
Hull City Psychological Service is seeking to recruit one full time educational psychologist to start immediately. We are a highly regarded Service within the local authority and have strong links with Sheffield, Newcastle and Nottingham Universities through the placement of Trainee Educational Psychologists with us. You will be encouraged to be innovative and reflective in your practice as well as sharing in and communicating our vision and values.
Hull City Psychological Service is committed to transforming lives through psychology and making positive change possible through holding ‘Helpful Conversations’ with others. Our work is delivered through a relational approach that values trust, promotes feelings of safety and supports connection. Practicing in this way, our team strengthen key relationships by creating opportunities to work collaboratively with those involved in a child or young person’s life. The Department for Education’s Delivering Better Value (DBV) programme has enabled the Service to develop a highly regarded multi-agency consultation meeting that focuses on enhancing the primary to secondary school transition, ensuring that the preparation for this is thorough, person centred and delivered in a timely manner. This is just one example of how you could develop your practice whilst experiencing excellent supervision and peer support. You will also receive regular line management sessions and bi-annual appraisal meetings at which time individual training and CPD needs can be identified and discussed. We are very keen to promote the use of systemic ideas within our practice and would welcome applicants who would also like to develop their skills in a relational way.
You can expect dedicated admin support; full use of IT services including the latest equipment; accessible and free car parking on most sites with reduced price parking passes for the City Centre. Mileage is reimbursed at HMRC business rates, or you may prefer to take advantage of our Cycle to work or car schemes. Under the Work Smart scheme remote working is also encouraged but we have a well-appointed office in the City Centre which is frequently used by the team. All applicants receive a comprehensive induction programme from a senior member of the Service with orientation provided by peers. There is an excellent Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and a Relocation Allowance for newly appointed staff moving from outside the area.
We would welcome applications from qualified educational psychologists registered with the HCPC. Applications for part-time working are also welcome.
For an informal discussion please contact Lisa Stanley (Principal Educational Psychologist) on 01482 614258 or email lisa.stanley@hullcc.gov.uk
