The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a resilient, empathetic, and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the Islington (N1) area.
This specialist setting supports pupils who require additional behavioural, emotional, or social support to re-engage with education. You will be working closely with teachers and behaviour mentors to provide consistency, structure, and positive intervention strategies.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people who face significant barriers to learning.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour support for pupils with SEMH needs
* Implement de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour interventions
* Support pupils in regulating emotions and building resilience
* Assist in creating a structured, safe, and inclusive learning environment
* Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral teams to deliver tailored support
* Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and progress
Requirements:
* Experience supporting pupils with behavioural or SEMH needs (PRU experience desirable)
* Strong communication and behaviour-management skills
* Ability to remain calm, consistent, and solution-focused under pressure
* Empathetic, patient, and adaptable approach
* Understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing, and trauma-informed practice
