Purpose of the Role
As a Finance Apprentice, you will support the finance team with routine processing and controls while completing your AAT apprenticeship. This is an entry-level role focused on learning core finance operations in a Private Equity backed, multi-entity, multi-currency environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Correspondence & Admin: Monitor the finance inbox; triage queries; keep records tidy and up to date; client set up.
Accounts Payable support: Match, code and post supplier invoices; prepare payment runs for review; maintain supplier details.
Accounts Receivable support: Raise approved sales invoices from the register; run debtor reports; send polite chasers as instructed.
Expenses & cards: Check and post staff expenses; reconcile corporate card statements; chase missing receipts.
Month-end support: Support the finance team with month end preparation and close tasks; Assist with supplier statements and basic balance-sheet reconciliations.
Controls & compliance: Follow documented processes, data-protection guidelines and approval limits.
Learning & development: Complete AAT study and on-the-job training tasks on schedule.
Training
Foundation covers the basic principles of accountancy, and is your starting point if you’ve never studied accountancy before. You’ll learn the basic principles of accountancy, such as double-entry bookkeeping, costing and preparing financial statements, as well as how to use accountancy software.
This level is ideal if you’re new to accountancy and finance, have previously worked in an accounts department, or are looking to change your career into Accountancy.
To pass this level, you'll be examined on five units. All assessments are computer-based exams (CBE). The area you will cover include:
Bookkeeping transactions.
Bookkeeping controls.
Elements of costing.
Using accounting software.
Foundation Synoptic Assessment.Training will be provided either via classroom or remote sessions. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate 20% of their time towards it.
Qualifications required
GCSE's grades 9/A* - 4/C including Maths and English.
Skills required
Comfortable with Excel, data input.
Customer service (internal or external).
Prospects
We have previously had two apprentices within our finance team, both started at level 2 and one is now completing CIMA, the other has been promoted to finance assistant, we are keen to continue this success story and help the right individual grow into a genuine career in finance with ramarketing.
