Summary
Neway International are seeking Senior Practitioners (SP) – 4+ years’ experience to join our client Birmingham Children’s Trust.
Location: St Thomas Centre, Birmingham
Hours: 36.5 per week (08:45 – 17:15)

The Role
As Senior Practitioner, you will bring extensive experience and specialist knowledge in the Pre Birth arena. You will undertake pre birth assessments, parent assessments, and utilise tools such as CUBUS or PAMs to inform safe planning and decision-making for vulnerable babies. This is a fast-paced role requiring strong risk management skills for both pre and post birth cases, as well as expertise in supporting parents whose children have been removed from their care.
You will manage complex cases across CIN, CP, and ICO, contribute to legal planning and pre-proceedings, and work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to address issues such as substance misuse, mental health, homelessness, and domestic abuse.
Key Responsibilities
Complete extensive pre birth assessments and parent assessments using recognised tools (CUBUS, PAMs)
Manage risk for pre and post birth babies, ensuring safe planning and decision-making
Work with families from early pregnancy to break cycles of children entering care
Handle complex casework across CIN, CP, and ICO processes
Contribute to legal planning, pre-proceedings, and complex case discussions
Collaborate with multi-agency partners to address safeguarding concerns including substance misuse, mental health, homelessness, and domestic abuse
Demonstrate significant knowledge and expertise at interview
Candidate Requirements
Professional qualification in Social Work (Diploma in Social Work, BA/BSc/MA in Social Work, CQSW) – registered with Social Work England
Minimum 4 years’ post-qualification experience in social care, with extensive knowledge in pre birth assessments
Strong expertise in risk management and safeguarding vulnerable babies and families
Experience of complex case discussions, legal planning, and pre-proceedings
Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency partners
Qualified driver with access to a car (essential)
