Summary
Neway International are seeking a Building Control Surveyor – Building Services & Maintenance to join our client Wirral MBC.

Hours: 36 per week

Pay Rates: PAYE £45.00 per hour / Limited/Umbrella £58.24 per hour
About the Client
Wirral Council’s Regeneration and Place directorate is committed to delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality building services across the borough. The Building Control team plays a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of people in and around the built environment, supporting regeneration and housing delivery while maintaining high standards of service and compliance.
The Role
As Building Control Surveyor, you will assist in the provision of a customer-focused Building Control Service. You will be responsible for checking applications against Building Regulations, undertaking statutory site inspections, and ensuring compliance with legislation. The role also involves responding to dangerous structures, unauthorised works, and demolition activities, including participation in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
Key Responsibilities
Check applications for compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation
Undertake statutory and other site inspections, liaising with builders and owners to ensure compliance
Respond to dangerous structures and unauthorised works, including emergency call-outs
Instigate enforcement procedures, prepare reports, and act as a witness in court when required
Assess and analyse structural calculations and details submitted with applications
Consult with internal and external bodies and communicate findings to applicants and agents
Support marketing and promotion of Building Control services and identify new business opportunities
Maintain accurate records in line with Quality Management Systems and service policies
Deliver a high-quality service that meets agreed targets and improvement objectives
Candidate Requirements
Sound knowledge of Building Regulations, Approved Documents, and allied legislation
Competent IT user, including Microsoft Office and specialist back-office systems
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach
Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining CPD records
Mobility and agility to undertake site inspections, including working at height or in confined spaces
Experience of enforcement work and court proceedings desirable
Knowledge of best practice and new industry developments desirable
