Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, high-performing Business Management Team committed to delivering efficient and sustainable solutions across the Defra group. As a Corporate Ethics Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with policies related to conflicts of interest, while actively identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.

Corporate Ethics within Defra primarily focuses on managing conflicts of interest and ensuring compliance with relevant governance frameworks. This includes oversight of processes for staff currently in post, as well as those exiting the organisation. In addition, the role supports Defra’s commitment to the transparency agenda, which requires the publication of data for senior staff in line with government standards.

We are seeking a proactive and confident Corporate Ethics Lead to oversee and drive the conflicts of interest agenda across the Defra group. This pivotal role involves managing end-to-end processes related to:

  • Business Interests
  • Gifts and Hospitality
  • Business Appointment Rules (BAR)
  • Transparency Returns

You will be responsible for assessing potential conflicts and determining whether they pose a risk to the Defra group, ensuring ethical standards are upheld across all activities.
