To provide for a 6-year-old little boy with Autism, communication difficulties and sensory needs.MAIN DUTIESWe are looking to recruit a Support Worker for this little boy to enable him to access age appropriate social and leisure activities in the community. He loves to play outside in the garden and playing with water. His favourite TV programme is Micky Mouse Club and his favourite characters are Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto. He enjoys playing with toys with removable parts so he can see how they work.Support will be needed to help him communicate his needs and understand him, due to him being unable to do this verbally. He will always require constant close supervision and attention to keep him safe, as he has no danger awareness. He las a limited diet and this will be discussed with successful applicant.There will be some personal care required as the child wears nappies.There is no medication administration required with this role.Hours4 hours per week during term-time weeks on Saturdays, then 8 hours per week in all school holidays with specific days being discussed at interview.Rate of pay£13.74 per hour Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata.
Out of pocket expenses will be met by the employer, i.e. mileage to and from activities and costs related to specific activities.Person SpecificationThe successful applicant must:
- have at least 12 months experience working with children who have disabilities
- have a positive understanding towards children with disabilities
- have a genuine interest in working with children with complex needs
- be able to respond positively and sensitively to any changes in behaviour
- have a high degree of initiative
- be punctual and reliable as the child can never be left unsupervised
- be flexible
- have a happy, positive, and caring nature
- respect confidentiality
