In order to apply for this role you will ideally have knowledge of legislation relating to sections 7 and 444 of the Education Act 1996, the Education (Penalty Notices) (England) Regulations 2007, EWS Non-School Attendance Education Penalty Notices Local Code of Conduct, and the EWS Prosecution Policy. Previous experience and ability in the use of the Oracle Finance System is essential, experience with another financial system may be considered.
The role:
We are seeking an Education Penalty Notice Officer, to work closely with the Education Welfare Officer and coordinate all aspects of issuing Education Penalty Notices (EPN) and collection of fines on behalf of the Education Welfare Service.
Key accountabilities:
Review the current processes and systems to ensure these are streamlined in order to provide a more efficient and effective response
Maintain computerised and manual records of all EPN transactions ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act and Brent financial regulations and produce reports on these
Maintain accurate records on the Oracle Financial System and regularly communicate and lead on meetings with Financial Service Centre in order to ensure the smooth running of payments and a positive customer experience
Take a leading role in supporting a team of Education Welfare Officers (EWO) to effectively issue EPNs and have an in-depth knowledge of statutory guidance
Responsible for managing queries from customers and schools regarding the issuing of Education Penalty Notices and collection of fines
Contribute to the delivery of the Council’s corporate priorities and objectives.
